vacuum cleaner comparisons
central vacuuming?

I possess an electrolux central vacuum system which has very weak suction power.

I have checked the cannister (empty) and the filter (clean).

Is there any other reason why this malfunctions or is there something else I can check or are central vacuums always weak? In comparison to a regular canister vacuum, this type is woefully lacking.

Have you checked to be sure nothing is blocking the inside of the hose such as a wad of hair or a sock?
Is the canister lid on correctly? If it doesn’t seal properly, you lose suction also.
Have you extended the length of the hose….longer the hose, lesser the suction.
My aunt has had one for 28 years and she swears by it. I used it and it has really good suck power.
